'Stirring End of Purpose' are glass sculptures that fuse individual detailed parts to form solid tall figures that are inspired by finials.
Finials are accentuating ornaments that emphasize the terminus of distinctive architectural elements and other structures. They appear in many cultures, and while they are created in an endless variety of shapes and materials, they have one thing in common: there is hardly tangible value, practical purpose, or existential physical need associated with them. By taking them out of their original context and into the realm of the arts, finials become a medium to explore the borderline of function, aesthetics and expression.
