Pohutukawa Vase 1

There is a range of unique vases in the ‘Pohutukawa Series.' These colorful objects are made using the techniques of double incalmo (constructed of three separate blown glass elements) further adorned with colored glass thread.

All objects in the series pay homage to New Zealand native Pohutukawa, a coastal evergreen tree that produces a brilliant display of crimson flowers made up of a mass of stamens. The plant has found an important place in NZ culture for its strength and beauty and is regarded as a chiefly tree (rākau rangatira) by Māori.
