Hue Kawakawa

This object is inspired by gourds and blown from photosensitive glass with Swedish color overlay. The imagery is created by the shadows of Kawakawa skeleton leaves.

Kawakawa is a New Zealand native Pepper Tree with heart-shaped leaves. The plant is used for ceremonies, including removing tapu, for medicinal purposes, and as a symbol of death.
